You will serve as a Supervisory Investigative Analyst for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). All Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) positions are in the excepted service. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status. This job will close when we have received 50 applications which may be sooner than the closing date.

Duties

You will serve as a first-level supervisor, Multiple Threat Alert Center (MTAC) Law Enforcement (LE) Desk at the GS-13 level responsible for managing, directing, and overseeing the analytic support activities and personnel assigned. You will manage entry to senior level subordinates assigned to the MTAC LE Desk who provide 24/7 all source support and analysis to all NCIS mission areas. You will coordinate support with internal and external customers such as NCIS Special Agents, Analysts, inquiries from other law enforcement entities, and the public. You will plan and implement shift work schedules, as well as cover shifts as needed to ensure 24/7 MTAC LE Desk coverage. You will devise, develop, and implement innovative ideas and procedures that improve daily operations, including routine evaluation and revision of MTAC LE Desk standard operating procedures. You will identify new resources and processes to improve efficiencies and support modernization the MTAC LE Desk, including scheduling, capturing metrics, documentation of LE Desk tasks / support, and new tools / databases. You will use written and verbal communication skills to develop and present information specific to MTAC LE Desk output and analytic support to NCIS Leadership. You will engage law enforcement and DoD counterparts on issues of relevance to the Department of the Navy and NCIS.

Requirements

  • This position requires rotating shift work.
  • This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Leading 24/7 shift personnel in support to law enforcement operations and investigations, crisis management, collaboration with law enforcement partners, and assisting the general public. Leading program development and demonstrated ability to modernize existing programs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
