You will serve as a LEAD POLICE OFFICER in the FORCE PROTECTION DIVISION of NAF EL CENTRO SEC DET.
Duties
You will secure crime scenes for evidence collection.
You will perform contingency actions in response to incidents, emergencies, and hostile actions (e.g., active shooter, hazardous materials spill, bomb threat).
You will distribute and balance workload and rotations among police officers.
You will administer anti-terrorism, force protection, physical security, and law enforcement services for the protection of life and property.

- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- Must successfully complete a designated Navy Police Officers Course of Instruction and meet all certification requirements, to include weapons certifications, CPR, AED, DOD and Joint Training Regulations.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
Qualifications

1) Performing law enforcement (LE), physical security (PS), antiterrorism (AT), and force protection (FP) functions; 2) Deploying specialized or advanced techniques, equipment, knowledge, or training; 3) Conducting preliminary and/or ongoing investigations of incidents; and 4) Documenting law enforcement and security events and the issuance of citations. Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment. Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy. Agreement to Continue in Service - CSA, Agency requires 36 month of continued employment after the completion of required training from the FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and 5 CFR410.309. Failure to voluntary complete length of employment requirement can subject employee to reimburse to the agency for fees, such as tuition and related fees, travel, and other special expenses (excluding salary) paid in connection with the training.
Required to wear a uniform and maintain appearance and grooming standards.
Overtime may be required. May be required to work overtime on an emergency basis.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work requires extended periods of physical exertion derived from such activities as running, walking, standing, bending or driving and occasionally lifting, pushing and/or carrying items weighing 50 pounds or more. Requires stamina, physical agility, dexterity, and the strength to pursue, arrest or detain. The incumbent may be required to push or drag heavy weights of 150 pounds or more. The incumbent is required to exemplify the physical characteristic of agility in the performance of his/her duties, DOD and Department of Navy regulations require at a minimum a periodic physical agility test. The individual will also undergo routine training in defensive tactics, handcuffing and firearms qualifications, which require physical agility, dexterity, and stamina.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work is performed in an environment, which involves exposure to regular, and recurring discomforts such as extreme variations in weather conditions while directing traffic and performing walking patrols. The incumbent may be exposed to high levels of noise in certain industrial settings, destructive weather, or higher Force Protection conditions. The work involves moderate and high risks and possible endangerment of life or serious injury that requires the exercise of safety precautions and use of personal protective equipment such as vests, coats, gloves, boots, goggles, masks, shields, etc. Incumbent may also be subject to uncomfortable conditions where basic facilities may not be provided or functional.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
