This position is located in a State, Area or Field office, Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS), United States Department of Agricultural (USDA).
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as secretary to the assigned organizational unit in the State Office, and to serve as the principal office administrative support position for the supervisor, related State Office staff and employees throughout the State.
Duties
Performs various duties in the areas of personnel, budget, timekeeping, travel, procurement, realty management and information processing.
Serves as liaison with the administrative staff at the State Office or others on National Service Delivery Teams.
Tracks suspense dates for Ag Learn, training, employee performance, awards, and other administrative actions.
Serves as a timekeeper, verifies timesheets for accuracy and makes corrections as
Maintains records of expenses and monitors/tracks the NRCS budget, allocations, and expenditures for travel, training, supplies, equipment, leases and vehicles.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check. If selected you will be sent instructions on obtaining fingerprints. Please note we are not able to reimburse any fees incurred for fingerprints.
- Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying:
Specialized Experience at the GS-06: One or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties:
scheduling appointments, meetings and conferences;
preparing and reviewing outgoing correspondence to ensure proper format; and
proofreading and editing correspondence and documents for correct grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and format.
Specialized Experience at the GS-07: One or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties:
Using software to create various documents, reports and correspondences;
Screening all calls and routing important matters to managers; and
assisting with procuring supplies, equipment, and services for an organization.
