Duties
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) serves as the world leader in providing timely, relevant, accurate, and actionable geospatial intelligence (GEOINT). NGA's civilian, military, and contract personnel evaluate imagery, maps, charts, multiple layers of foundation data - such as terrain, elevation, and gravity - and the full spectrum of visible and invisible light in order to help users visualize what is happening at a particular place and time. Our intelligence officers go beyond describing "what, where, and when" to revealing "how and why" our work enables decision advantage for our policymakers, warfighters, intelligence professionals, and first responders. NGA uses a flexible, high mobility career model. Individuals are hired for their overall skills within a specialty such as Photogrammetrist, and then placed in various positions throughout the agency once they complete the clearance process. Although currently advertised as a non-supervisory, permanent, telework-ineligible job posting with occasional travel, it is unknown which specific positions will be available after applicants complete the selection and clearance process. Because of this, aspects of the job such as travel, supervisory, telework, etc. may change, depending on specific positions available at that time. It is also possible that applicants could be hired into a position with specific aspects and then change positions after serving for a period of time in that assignment. Applicants who have completed the clearance process receive final documentation about the nature of the specific position before they make the final commitment to join NGA.Duties:1. Assess, evaluate, and extract elevation data from stereo imagery.2. Perform/assist with image assessment, point selection, mensuration, triangulation, orthorectification, and processing to produce standard and nonstandard image products.3. Qualifications
MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). Online resumes must demonstrate qualification by providing specific examples and associated results, in response to the announcement's mandatory criteria specified in this vacancy announcement: 1. Demonstrated experience communicating ongoing work and findings to leadership and others through written, visual, and spoken reports and briefings. 2. Demonstrated experience using GEOINT Analysis or Photogrammetry-related exploitation software such as, but not limited to, SOCET GXP, ArcGIS, QT Modeler, Active Earthscape, or ERDAS Imagine to create, analyze or review geospatial data.3. Demonstrated experience in photogrammetry (i.e., elevation, triangulation, remote-sensing, image science, triangulation, orthorectification, etc.) or related geospatial (Geomatics) sciences core competencies (i.e., surveying, GIS, geodesy, and mapping) required to perform precise imagery generation and quality control.4. A working understanding and practical application of modeling geometric components of the image collection path to fully assess the geolocation and mensuration accuracy of a system. Imaging systems could include electrical-optical or LIDAR, onboard multiple platforms. 5. Familiarity with exploitation and mensuration software packages needed to perform photogrammetric tasks. 6. Familiarity with current GEOINT systems, products, and development needed to perform photogrammetric tasks.EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Cartography or a major that included, or was supplemented by, at least 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework in Cartography and/or directly related Sciences and related Mathematics. Coursework may include Astronomy, Cartography, Computer Science, Geodesy, Geography, Geology, Geophysics, Land Surveying, Photogrammetry, Physical and Geological Oceanography, Physical Geography, Remote Sensing, or a related discipline. The 30 semester (45 quarter) hours must have included at least 6 semester (9 quarter), but not more than 15 (22 quarter), hours of college level non-business mathematics or statistics (i.e., college level algebra, trigonometry, calculus, or scientific mathematics or statistics requiring equivalent college-level courses as prerequisites). -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework as listed in option A, plus experience in the Cartographic field that includes the application of mensuration techniques, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to one year of experience. Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals 4 years.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: Near visual acuity of 20/60 or better with or without corrective lenses; Stereopsis abilityDESIRABLE QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: 1. Demonstrated experience working with precise imagery and/ or elevation data and products such as but not limited to Digital Point Positioning Database (DPPDB), Controlled Image Base (CIB), Orthorectified Commercial Imagery (CI-Ortho), High Resolution Terrain Elevation (HRTE), Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED), Geospatial Repository and Data Management System (GRiD), TerraSar add-on for Digital Elevation Measurement (TanDEM-X), or Defense Gridded Elevation Data (DGED).2. Demonstrated experience applying skills associated with scripting, programming, and/or software customization. 3. Demonstrated experience working with others on a team.
