What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position?
This is a time limited assignment not-to-exceed 1-year and may be extended to a total 5 years within regulatory time limits or made permanent without further competition or terminated at management discretion. At the end of the assignment you will be returned to a position equivalent in tenure and grade as your former position.
Salary:
GS-12: $86,962 (Step 01) to $113,047 (Step 10).
Duties
As a Supervisory Hydrologic Technician within the Central Midwest Water Science Center (CMWSC), some of your specific duties will include:
Qualifications
For GS-12:
Applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-12 level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service.
Examples of such experience may include: planning and conducting the computation, collection, and review of data from monitoring stations; determining stage-discharge relations, computing rating tables and mean daily, monthly and annual discharge rates from these stations. Knowledge and awareness to techniques and methods related to collection and processing of Surface Water, Water Quality, and Groundwater data. Use of hydrologic and hydraulic expertise to appropriately collect and process data under non-standard conditions. Use of sage judgement and expertise in collecting and processing complex data. Organization and leadership of efforts to plan and install new monitoring stations. Leading surveys for the purpose of establishing vertical datum and for Indirect computation of streamflow. Maintaining bureau and center level databases. Employ, express, and impart a knowledge of bureau and mission area policies. Serve as official or un-official training resource to lesser experienced staff on the topic of techniques and methods related to the collection and processing of data. Organization, leadership, and coordination of team response to hydrologic extreme events such as flooding and drought. Participation in in committees or workgroups that have impact on processes related to data quality, efficiency, and/or cost.
