About the position: This position will be assigned to the Community Services Flight/ Outdoor Recreation.
Physical Effort: Requires frequent standing, bending, stooping, crawling and working in tight spaces. Frequently lifts and carries unassisted parts and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally moves heavy items with assistance or with mechanical devices over 40 pounds.
Duties
Diagnoses malfunctions of outboard motors to determine the source of trouble and to determine the extent of repairs required, including electrical systems, geared units, and components. Using specialized testing equipment, tears down, adjusts, repairs, reassembles, and runs operational checks on engines to determine necessary repairs. Maintains electrical and plumbing systems in travel campers.
Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical failures in small gas-powered engines, lawn mower, rototillers, edgers, aerator and other mechanical equipment. Sharpens mower blades, repairs customers equipment, repairs camping trailers, pop-up campers, tents, sleeping bags, lanterns, heaters, camp stoves, maintains and repairs various speed bicycles, large BBQ grills, party canopies; maintains and repairs boat and trailers, fishing equipment, trolleying motors; repairs wet suits, water skis, surfboards and various other small equipment for rent. Repairs and maintains fishing docks and boats at Pine Canyon and Punch Bowl lakes.
Determines supplies and parts needed for repairs. Maintains maintenance records on all equipment repaired annotating man-hours, materials and date of repair. Based on these records, determines bench stock required and maintenance schedules.
Instructs patrons in all phases of safety regulations concerning use of boats and motors, camping equipment, water sports equipment, gardening and lawn care equipment, and fishing rules and regulations.
In the absence of the assigned recreation assistant, performs operational duties to include renting equipment, collecting fees and charges, preparing and submitting financial paperwork.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and one every three years thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

Must have experience in the maintenance, repair, outboard marine engine, small gas engines and various mechanical equipment used for the rental.
Experience must have provided a thorough knowledge of and the ability to test and troubleshoot components and systems to locate equipment defects; interpret and apply manufacturer's repair manuals, diagnostic codes, technical specifications, schematics, and safety manuals; and to operate electronic test equipment; knowledge of the theory, care and operation of small gas engines ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine proper maintenance; ability to communicate effectively and keep maintenance records.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Must be able to lift, handle, and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds, with assistance up to and over 50 pounds.
Must be able to frequently stand, bend, stoop, crawl, and work in tight spaces for long periods.
Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.
Position is a position of trust.
Must be able to complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Education
