THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a WG-4102-08 PAINTING WORKER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1217000 and is part of the MO Combined Support Maintenance Shop.
APPOINTMENT FACTORS: This is a Permanent Excepted Service position. This is a bargaining unit position.
Duties
Prepares surfaces by removing rust, paint and loose particles; sands and evens out dents and scars to assure a smooth and level surface using sanders, scrapers, sandpaper, wire brushes, and paint remover.
Reads and interprets directions that relate to mixture, use and application of various kinds of coating materials, solvents and pre-coating agents.
Prepares coating materials as required by tinting, toning, matching, blending, and mixing in various additives. Applies prime, intermediate and final coats of semi-gloss, glossy and other paint, lacquer, enamel, varnish and shellac.
Ensures that the match, texture and appearance meet finish requirements.
Replaces and applies markings/lettering.
Applies Chemical Agent Reactive Coating (CARC) materials in accordance with strict specifications and dimensions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

- This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Missouri National Guard prior to the effective date of placement.

Qualifications
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Maximum Military Grade - SGM (E-9)
Enlisted - CMF 12, 91 or 92
Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Technicians will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion).
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education or training which demonstrates knowledge of surface preparation (removal of rust, dirt, paint, etc.); coating methods (brushing, rolling and spraying). Experience using coating materials (paints, varnishes, shellacs, etc.). Must have the ability to use tools and equipment associated with the painting trade and to read and interpret directions.
WG-08 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 12 months of specialized experience which demonstrates knowledge of standard surface preparation and coating methods and techniques; skill to sand, wire brush, scrape, spackle, putty, prep surfaces and select appropriate tools to complete assigned tasks; skill to brush on, roll on, and spray coating materials, and apply other related methods and techniques, such as cutting-in techniques and dip and overflow methods; and ability to interpret and follow technical orders, specifications and publications.
