About the Position: US Army Enterprise Services Agency, Army Declassification Direcotrate, Office of the Director. Fort Belvoir, VA 22060.

Duties

Perform archival principles and techniques to ensure the provisions of regulations such as Executive Order (EO) 13526 Automatic Declassification are adhered to. Ensure records are maintained at the highest level of security classification and in accordance with specified Regulations, policy and guidance. Analyze and maintain all related electronic archival databases that document and account for the millions of pages of classified records requiring review each year IAW established EO deadlines. Interact with the National Archives, the Washington National Records Center and other agencies on EO related issues, to ensure Army policies, regulations, and procedures information/documents are followed before accessioning records. Ensure all relevant data is appropriately captured into the automated document storage and retrieval hardware and software systems. Independently plans and carries out work projects, resolving most problems that arise. Aid in the development and implementation of policies and procedures pertaining to the program. Keep management informed of progress and of any potentially controversial issues.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/ SCI security clearance.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

Basic Requirements: Bachelor's degree in archival science or bachelor's degree with a major that includes 18 semester hours in archival science, history and/or in political science or government, and 12 semester hours in one or any combination of the following: archival science, history, American civilization, economics, political science, public administration, or government. or Combination of education and experience - at least 30 semester hours that included courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Evaluation of Experience: Professional experience must have been in archival science, or in a directly related field of work such as history that involved the collection, appraisal, analysis, or synthesis of information having historical or archival values. The following are illustrative of kinds of experience that may be accepted as meeting the professional experience requirements: (1) experience as an archivist in Federal, state, religious institution, business, or other archives, or in manuscript depositories, and (2) experience of an archival nature that involved research in archival science, or in a directly related field such as history, government, economics, political science, international relations, or international law. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilize automated records or information management systems to identify, request, capture, or maintain relevant historical classified information; analyze classified records to ensure compliance with regulations such as Executive Order (EO) 13526, Automatic Declassification; and coordinate with internal or external stakeholders to maintain classified records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
