This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U. S. Coast Guard, Aviation Logistics Division, Logistics Compliance Branch, Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to construct custom shipping or storage containers for items of irregular size or shape.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.Typical work assignments include:

Qualifications

Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element).Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic).Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (includes blueprinting reading).Measurement and Layout.Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment.Knowledge of Materials.Experience includes construction, installation, and repair of shipping and storage containers and material handling items such as boxes, crates, skids, pallets, and storage bins made from wood or wood substitute materials; selecting or adapting patterns, templates, and procedures to make, install, and repair wood and wood substitute items; using hand and power tools and machines to measure, cut, install, and fasten wood and wood substitute materials.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
