Duties
The working title for this position is Senior Electronics Technician. As a Senior Electronics Technician, you will perform the following duties:
Acts as the point of contact for the development of repair depot troubleshooting and repair procedures for new and/or existing equipment assigned to the Next Generation Weather Radar (NEXRAD) Repair Branch.
Develop test procedures, improvements, and alterations to fixtures of sophisticated technical equipment, instruments or software utilized by the NEXRAD Repair Branch.
Manage the workflow of parts inspected or repaired, including in-house and vendor repairs for the NEXRAD Repair Branch.
Assign work to staff members in the unit, providing technical guidance and training, and collaborate with other technicians and engineers to improve the reliability of NEXRAD system parts.
Troubleshooting and repair of assigned NEXRAD parts.
Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Applicant must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:
Testing, troubleshooting, and repairing systems and equipment
Work with a team of technicians, supporting project implementation and technical duties; and
Use schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, and the application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in depot level duties such as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, calibrating, maintaining, and repairing electronic equipment.
