You will serve as a Security Specialist within the Navy Information Forces (NAVIFOR of HOPPER GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS CENTER. All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.

Duties

You will carry out all assignments necessary to implement security throughout the activity to meet Department of Navy and national security program requirements, with guidance. You will participate in Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) indoctrinations and education briefings for qualified individuals of activities served, the Reserve units, and associated contractors. You will participate in tasks involved in the development, evaluation, implementation, or execution of information security programs. You will participate in tasks relative to an assigned area in the security technology fields of intrusion detection systems, access control systems, and sound making systems. You will collect, review, interpret, evaluate, and integrate security data from multiple sources to assess the relevance and significance of current or emerging security concepts.

Requirements

• You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
• Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
• This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
• This position may require a 2-Year DCIPS trial period requirement.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Perform routine and basic assignments with supervision and guidance that is associated with various forms of inquiries, processes and database management systems; Participate in reviewing and making recommendations for security process improvements; Ensure all actions are handled in a timely manner. Recent Grad
Recent graduates who completed a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate within the last two years of the closing date of the announcement. Also, veterans who were unable to apply within two years of receiving my degree, due to military service obligations but are still within six years of graduation completion date with a qualifying degree.
