This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. Serves as a Lead Archives Technician in the Records Retrieval Branch of the Military Personnel Records facility, functioning as a work leader for a group of employees engaged in activities associated with the retrieval, delivery and refile of military personnel records.
Duties
As a LEAD ARCHIVES TECHNICIAN, you will:
Work with and lead a group of employees, grade GS-4.
Employ the Case Management and Reporting System (CMRS) and other systems (both manual and automated) to batch and assign pending work in accordance with the Center's queue discipline and to ensure the prompt and continuous movement of work through the Records Retrieval Branch to the appropriate Correspondence Core or external agency.
Review batch/task sheets, serve as backup for supervisor or other team leads when needed.
Responsible for analyzing late-flowing documents. Evaluate findings and bring irregularities to the attention of the supervisor.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience for the GS-05 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-04 level, or equivalent, that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must include:
Communicating with various types of customers in person or by telephone. OR
Responding to inquiries or requests for various information.
OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 4 years above high school.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education..
NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
Advancement to positions up to GS-5: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
Education
Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
