About the Position: This position is located at Naval Branch Health Clinic, Portsmouth in Kittery, ME. The purpose of the position is to perform a variety of clerical support duties which facilitate the work of providers and nurses by performing duties related to patient care and treatment, such as record keeping, receptionist, clerical, and patient contact via telephone or e-mail.

Duties
Perform the duties of a clinic receptionist.
Assist providers and nursing staff by communicating patient’s healthcare needs upon check-in or by telephone or by e-mail.
Responsible for patient scheduling, ensuring patients are aware of any special administrative requirements in advance of appointment.
Prepare medical records and forms for use by staff, and ensuring proper documentation of all forms and documents
Review documentation to obtain additional information and/or determine patient eligibility for treatment.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Proficiency Required: This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates my ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as performing a variety of receptionist, record keeping and/or miscellaneous administrative support work associated with the care and services provided in medical wards, clinics, or other such departments of a medical facility. Utilize multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.

Education: Successful completion of two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
