You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the COMMAND OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of FLTREADCEN EAST.
Duties
You will review documents, take fingerprints, and the form with required attachments (resume and signature pages) release data to OPM for investigation.
You will make recommendations on position sensitivity and recommends changes to personnel security procedures as appropriate.
You will manage the command program for continuous evaluation of eligibility for access to classified information or assignment to sensitive duties.
You will identify, analyze, evaluate, and recommend solutions for a variety of different and unrelated security issues.
Requirements

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
FOR THE GS-11 LEVEL:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Managing wide range of security principles, concepts, policies, practices and methods of HR administration including personnel security suitability and adjudicative guidelines, agency specific qualifications, Federal personnel security regulations, and investigative standards; 2) Coordinating and analyzing policy direction to specific operating requirements and making recommendations for change and/or developing guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to improve personnel security programs; 3) Providing advice of a wide range of principles, concepts and methodologies associated with the security administration field; 4) Coordinating specific areas of personnel and information security required to review independently, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems; 5) Understanding of procedures and regulations for preparing, reviewing and evaluating all security investigative reports and investigations for the purpose of recommending the granting or denying of clearances and/or downgrading, removing/revoking clearances in cases where access is denied; 6) Identifying specialized applications or established variations in security criteria involving considerations such as clearance level required, adjudication of security clearances when clear-cut derogatory information is present in the investigative information, nature of materials or information to the protected, cost-benefit relationships for security devices or equipment systems, and similar considerations.
FOR THE GS-09 LEVEL:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
