You will serve as a Surface Force Inspector General in the Force Inspector General (N01IG) of COMNAVSURFPAC.

Duties

You will inspect processes, programs, and internal control systems for compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness. You will serve as the Integrated Risk Management program manager to execute the command’s Risk Assessments and annual Internal Control Plan, You will conduct Command Evaluations, in accordance with the Department of the Navy (DON), CPF instructions and the CNSP IRM Program instruction. You will collect evidence through interviews, observation, and document examination that supports investigation findings, conclusions, and recommendations. You will perform inquiries and administrative investigations as a certified Naval Inspector General (NAVIG) Investigator. You will obtain evidence relative to the allegations, allegations could involve violations of law, executive orders, federal regulations, standing orders, misconduct, and willful or neglectful non-compliance with administrative policies. You will conduct investigations into Naval Inspector General Hotline complaints that involve any manner of fraud, wasteful practices, employee misconduct, Congressional Inquiries, and other matters.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to maintain a current Naval Inspector General Investigator certification.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing administrative and investigative oversight by assessing complaints of fraud, waste, and abuse to ensure proper documentation and support corrective actions.
