About the Position: As Engineering Technician (Civil), incumbent performs a variety of duties related to ensuring work items are completed per the technical provision of the O&M contract through Quality Assurance. Also ensures the proper functioning of the many interrelated systems on the entire length of the Divide Cut of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway.
Duties
Serves as FEM Coordinator for the Bay Springs Site Office.
Supervises up to three temporary and/or seasonal technicians, inspectors or laborers who may be assigned as situations dictate.
Inspects all facilities related to the stability of the Divide Cut of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway and the navigational and shoreline components of Bay Springs Lake.
Responsible for the management and inspection of varying types of contracts.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must maintain and obtain a valid driver's license.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1.) Inspects work conducted by O&M contractor for compliance with contract technical provisions. 2.) Assist with inspections and make recommendations on method of repair, rehabilitation or re-design of structures, drains, slopes, etc. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
