The primary purpose of this position is to perform the role and responsibilities of the Munitions Inspector performing both on and off ordnance equipment maintenance and to train Munitions Inspectors in the accomplishment of tasks set forth herein.

Duties

Performs duties as a senior munitions inspector, responsible for performing, certifying, coordinating, and/or overseeing the maintenance of all munitions systems and equipment Manages the munitions inspection training program. Provides proper allocation, control, care, and use of ordnance and related equipment to customers Sets up and operates software controlled automatic test equipment (ATE) to test and troubleshoot complex electronic components of missiles and ordnance systems Receives stores, handles, and transports ammunition, rockets, unguided and guided weapons and countermeasures, demolition material, and other types of conventional ordnance Complies with all federal, DOD, USAF, state, and local regulations concerning hazardous material and waste including all explosive items

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6641-11, ORDNANCE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC INSPECTOR position. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of an Ordnance Equipment Mechanic Inspectorwithout more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Comprehensive knowledge of munitions storage procedures and maintenance methods and procedures to troubleshoot, repair, modify, and test systems of a variety of aircraft ordnance systems including support and test equipment, sub-assemblies, and associated handling equipment or devices Skill in the use of test equipment and measuring devices such as leak detectors, feeler gauges, dial indicators, micrometers, bore sight tools, multi-meters, voltmeters, and ammeters and in automated and manual computer systems operations including systems such as the Combat Ammunition System, Integrated Maintenance Data Systems (IMDS) / Agile Munitions Support Tool (AMST), Tactical Munitions Reporting System, AFMC2, and Web Federal Logistics Information System (WebFLIS) Ability to interpret technical orders, technical manuals, blueprints, schematic drawings, and other technical information and skill to apply the data. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, plan and organize training, includes determining resources requirements, developing lesson plans, schedules and conducting training Knowledge of ordnance systems maintenance, inspection, storage, explosive safety, security, and transportation regulations, practices, procedures, principles, and policies including safe operation of various light and heavy machinery and vehicles and assorted tools Ability to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, modify, adjust, and test a variety of aircraft ordnance systems using electronic, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic principles of operation such as missile and special weapons launching devices, decoys, Cartridge Actuated Device and Propellant Actuated Device (CAD /PAD) items, and rocket launching equipment SEI 836 and either 2 years of continuous munitions inspector experience within the past 48 months or attendance to the AETC in-resident or Mobile Training Team course within the past 48 months is desirable. Detailed working knowledge and ability to perform all required duties of an Ordnance Equipment Inspector / Mechanic PHYSICAL EFFORT: Heavy lifting (80 lbs. and over). Heavy lifting (45-79 lbs.). Moderate lifting (15-44 lbs.). Light lifting (under 15 lbs.). Heavy carrying (45 lbs. and over). Moderate carrying (15-44 lbs.). Light carrying (under 15 lbs.). Hours of straight pulling are 2 hours/week. Hours of pulling hand over hand are 1 hour/week. Hours of pushing are 2 hours/week. Reaching above shoulder. Use of fingers. Both hands required. Hours of walking are 2 hours/day. Hours of standing are 4 hours/day. Hours of kneeling are 4 hours/week. Hours of repeated bending are 4 hours/week. Hours of climbing, legs only, are 8 hours/week. Climbing, use of legs and arms. Both legs required. Operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable at 13 inches to 16 inches to Jaeger 1 to 4. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other. Both eyes required. Depth perception required. Ability to distinguish basic colors. Ability to distinguish shades of color. WORKING CONDITIONS: Outside and inside (other than normal commuting). Excessive noise, intermittent. Constant noise. Electrical energy. Slippery or uneven walking surface. Working around machinery with moving parts. Working around moving objects or vehicles. Working on ladders or scaffolding. Working closely with others. May be required to work in confined areas. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
