About the Position: Serves as Power Plant Senior Mechanic, leading the work f craftsman andtraineesengged in the inspection, cleaning, testing, installation, modification, maintenance,repair, and adjustment of allmechanical equipmentcommon to a hydroelectric power project which consists of a powerhouse, dam or dams,
switchyards, and related works.
Duties
Install new equipment and associated piping and controls for power plant modernization.
Use manufacturer’s drawings to perform maintenance on industrial power equipment.
Use shop mathematics common to heavy industrial machinery used at hydro- electric power plants in order (includes blueprinting reading) to complete assigned tasks.
Select the proper tools, equipment, machinery, parts, computer equipment, or software to perform installation, maintenance, repair or placement of equipment and components in power plant associated equipment.
Maintains Records of materials used, and originates requisitions for supplies, materials, and tools.
Troubleshoot malfunctions of hydroelectric equipment such as main generators, governors, pumps, compressors, turbines, HVAC equipment, and hydraulic equipment in order to ensure operability of equipment.
Requirements

- This position has a Travel requirement of up to 10% of the time.
- This positionis required to obtain and maintain a valid Driver's License.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Government Travel Card.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Power Plant Senior Mechanic without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Power Plant Senior Mechanic task/activities. I can organize and participate in the installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment at a hydroelectric power project which consist of a powerhouse, switchyards, dam or dame and related works. In addition, I have the ability to install new equipment, piping and controls for modernization; dismantle old mechanical equipment; and perform rigging required for the dismantling and rebuilding of equipment. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey- level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort- The incumbent frequently handles objects weighing up to 45 pounds and lifting and operating heavy and awkward hand tools. Many tasks require significant brute force. The incumbent is required to push, pull, reach, walk, stand, crawl, kneel, bend, and work in cramped positions over and under machinery of all types for sustained periods of time.
Working Conditions- Work is primarily inside, however, occasionally works outside or in dirty, confined areas subject to electrical shook, cuts, bruises, burns, etc. Dirt, grease and dampness are frequently encountered and incumbent will be exposed to constant noise from continuous operating machinery. Occasionally, incumbent climbs and works from ladders and scaffolds.
