About the Position: The purpose of this position is to evaluate, develop, maintain, and repair biomedical equipment used at NMCP in the treatment of patients, diagnosis of pathological conditions, and in biomedical research. This employee may be required to perform in any assigned area of NMCP, outlying Branch Health Clinics, and operational Commands of the Atlantic Fleet.

Duties

Completes assigned preventative maintenance and other scheduled services; assists in the development of other preventative maintenance procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Troubleshoots and repairs medical equipment, medical equipment systems, and devices; rebuilds equipment, and reports requirements to the supervisor. Is aware of and utilizes necessary references to gather the information needed to acquire necessary repair parts, which may include parts for medical equipment no longer supported by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). Maintains equipment service history in the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) system, to include opening new work requests, closing, documenting services provided by vendors, and producing reports. Serves as a technical advisor in the purchase of new medical equipment. Communicates with customers regarding equipment status and proper orientation of equipment.

  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 35 lbs
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • Biomed Level II preferred but not required

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Cost Estimation and AnalysisPlanning and EvaluatingQuality Assurance Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).
