This position is located in the Mental Health Services at VA Sheridan Health Care System - Sheridan VA Medical Center in Sheridan, WY. The Psychology Technician (Psychometrics) is responsible for assisting with psychological assessments and measurement-based care.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Major duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: Functioning relatively autonomously in administering, scoring, and providing an initial evaluation of a variety of psychological and neuropsychological test data gathered from patients Providing to the assessing Psychologist, preliminary interpretation through written reports of test data, validity interpretations, behavioral observations, and patient history gained throughout the testing process Administering symptom screening via Measurement Based Care tools to Veterans is varied program in mental health at identified timepoints Tracking, reporting, and providing preliminary interpretations of symptom-based Measurement Based Care data to care providers and mental health leadership Discussing tests and other screening measures collected with a psychologist to aid in determining appropriate course of treatment or disposition Interviewing patients to obtain specific data for the purpose of diagnosing and/or prescribing a treatment plan Observing and noting significant behavior and modes of response and assessing whether any of these circumstances will invalidate or significantly affect data obtained Combining and comparing test scores and interview responses with established norms and presents factual data to be interpreted by professional staff members Assisting supervisors in the recognition and resolution of problems to enhance vocational productivity Complying written case history, patient complaints, test results, and other clinically relevant information for use in the subsequent assessment and diagnosis of patients by the supervising psychologist Providing training in the administration and scoring of psychological test instruments, as well as interview techniques to trainees at various levels for the purposes of training Maintaining test results/data on patients who are and have been treated in MH RRTP so that treatment effectiveness can be monitored Performing psychological assessments using interview, formal psychological testing, and consultation, gathering case history, complaints, or other problem- related information for use in the evaluation and diagnosis of said patients Assisting psychologist in completing intellectual, emotional functioning and personality rating scales, and/or in conducting behavior modification and education to patient/family Assisting psychologists working in vocational settings in contacting potential employers for purpose of making vocational placement, providing follow-up consultation, administering, and scoring of interest, achievement, and aptitude tests, securing work history and other relevant vocational information Assisting neuropsychologist in administering and scoring of neuropsychological procedures in accordance with clearly defined procedures Providing training in the administration and scoring of psychological test instruments, as well as interview techniques, to trainees at various levels, for the purposes of training Monitoring the supply of psychological testing materials and coordinates the ordering of needed supplies with the supervising psychologist Assisting in research activities, including collection of raw data, data entry and verification, data summaries, tabulations, and some statistical analyses Assisting in office management by organizing, inventorying, tracking use, and replenishing testing materials. Receiving telephone calls, determining nature of call, and answering routine inquiries based on past decision or regulatory guidelines Assisting in scheduling testing sessions for patients admitted to the inpatient or residential settings Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications

Basic Requirement: The following are basic requirements for appointment as a Psychology Technician (Psychometrics) in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), which all applicants must met. Basic Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in an appropriate social or biological science, which included or was supplemented by 12 semester hours in psychology. (UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED: If you do not submit your transcript, your application may not be reviewed.) Minimum Requirement: The following are minimum requirements for appointment as a Psychology Technician (Psychometrics) in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), which all applicants must met. GS-09 Experience: Two (2) years of technical work under the direction of a professional psychologist in a program of professional services, training or research. At least six (6) months of such experience must be comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade (GS-08) in the Federal service, or one (1) year comparable to the second lower grade (GS-07) in the Federal service. Technical work include experience with one or more of the following: (1) assist in research as in systematic collection of psychology research data, recording and collecting of data, preparing tabular or graphic presentation of data, in accordance with a predetermined research plan; (2) assist counseling psychologist in contacting potential employers for purpose of making vocational placement, providing follow-up consultation, administering and scoring of interest, achievement and aptitude tests, securing work history and other relevant vocational information; (3) assist neuropsychologist in administering and scoring of selected tests of a neuropsychology battery in accordance with clearly defined procedures; (4) assist psychologists in completing behavior rating scales or in conducting behavior modification. (CLEAR DETAILS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must show complete information for each job entry, such as beginning and ending dates of employment, duties performed, and/or total hours worked per week.) OR, GS-09 Substitution of Education. Two (2) years of graduate study (i.e., 36 semester hours) in psychology in an accredited college or university may be substituted for 2 year of experience and meets in full the requirements at the GS-9 level. NOTE: One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
