This position supports the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Director of Operational Logistics, Naval Engineering Department, Industrial Production Facility, Mobile, Alabama. This is a full-time position. 3RD SHIFT (night) - MONDAY - THURSDAY 4/10

Duties

The selectee performs welding work in support of the U.S. Coast Guard, Naval Engineering Support Unit. Welding assignments may include work onBeing a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include welding on Buoys (metal hull & foam stems), fabricating various buoy weight devices (concrete & steel), fabrications of various buoy transport devices and general welding and shop maintenance.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • This is a full-time position. 3RD SHIFT (night) - MONDAY - THURSDAY 4/10

Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (Screen-out Element). Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic). Use of measuring instructions. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (including blueprint reading). Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment. Knowledge of Metals. Dexterity and Safey. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
