This position is in the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Office of Child Support Services, Office of the Commissioner, Office of Audit, located in Atlanta, Georgia, Boston, Massachusetts, Chicago, Illinois, Dallas, Texas, New York, New York, and Washington, District of Columbia.

Duties

Serves as Auditor-in-Charge (AIC) working closely with the junior auditors and providing input to their supervisor and serves as the liaison during all phases of an audit. Develops standards, guidelines, and procedures for the detailed review and examination of the child support services (CSS) programs for a full range of different types of audits. Provides training to junior staff including the review and approval of work products during an audit cycle. Maintains lines of communication to promote information exchange with all levels of officials within the programs under audit.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Basic Requirement: You must meet one of the items listed below (A or B): A. Possess a degree in auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting. (You must provide transcripts.) B. Possess a combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. Your background must also include one of the following: A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours. (You must provide transcripts.) Specialized Experience: GS-13: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing (3) of the (4) duties listed below: Determining guidelines and work plans to implement audit requirements for child support enforcement programs. Assisting with the development of audit materials to execute an audit program consistent with legal and regulatory requirements. Reviewing child support enforcement programs using automated data processing procedures. Verifying audit reports and audit working papers to determine that all findings are supported.
