The primary purpose of this position to ensure vehicles and equipment scheduled and unscheduled maintenance is promptly accomplished and contract maintenance repairs for assigned vehicles and components are properly coordinated and monitored.

Duties

Administers the base vehicle control program. Provides initial and recurring training for vehicle control officers on proper management of assigned vehicles. Administers the base vehicle lease program for GSA general purpose and commercial special purpose vehicles. Administers the base vehicle fleet. Monitors unit vehicle authorizations, distribution. and disposal with base agencies and higher headquarters.

  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.

  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; employee must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • May be required to participate in contingency situations, both real world and exercises.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
  • Work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license may be required for the position. Vehicles may include driving a forklift and up to a two ton truck.
  • May be required to complete Nuclear War Reserve Material (NWRM) Fundamental training course annually or as required per AFI 20-110, Chapter 9.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, Transportation Clerk and Assistant Series, 2102. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NK-01, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-04 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience must include knowledge and application of an extensive body of transportation laws, regulations, policies, procedures, techniques and methods to administer the installation's vehicle lease and warranty and contractor repair programs. OR EDUCATION: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience as described above may be used to qualify for this position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge and application of an extensive body of b transportation laws, regulations, policies, procedures, techniques and methods to administer the installation's vehicle lease and warranty and contractor repair programs. Ability to operate common vehicles (i.e. cars. pickup trucks, vans, etc.) in order to deliver and pick up vehicles to and from off-base repair facilities. Proficiency in basic mathematics to understand, compute, manage vehicle repair and rental cost for proper tracking and payment of service rendered. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. to work with personnel throughout the base as well as off-base contractors and vendors. Ability to climb, bend, and crawl under vehicles to perform visual inspections and, on occasion. be able to lift up to 50 pounds, with assistance. Ability to operate a personal computer and applicable software to create word documents, spreadsheets and on an occasional basis. charts/graphics, receive and send mail, and update database. A qualified typist is not required. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
