About the position:
This position will be assigned to the Library located on Peterson Space Force Base.
Duties
Duties and Responsibilities:
This position serves as the Library Technician (Outreach Programs) for the 21 Force Support Squadron Library Program.
Performs specialized duties in support pf the library's outreach program. Incumbent of position is responsible for all library special events and programs.
Develops and implements programs to accommodate the wide range of interests for library patrons.
Ensures that program activities emphasize those activities most appropriate to the interest and developmental needs of the population served.
Administers library programs and prepares after-action reports and assesses program success or failure.
Effectively identifies successful, weak, and unsuccessful outreach methods and determines, as appropriate, which programs or events should be dropped or revised for improvement.
Coordinates the development and implementation of library programs with supervisory librarian recommendations and guidance. In conjunction with Marketing, develops marketing and publicity advertisement materials of library's special events, functions and other available programs of interest.
Prepares and maintains programming statistics in accordance with AF and management specifications
. Responsible for the creation, compilation, and maintenance of a Library Program Portfolio containing marketing and public relations materials for all library programs and events.
Assists the supervisory librarian with the preparation of informational packages for the Library Annual Report, as well as other Program related events.
Assists the supervisory librarian in developing a library marketing plan to promote and publicize library programs and events. Pursues new program initiatives, as well as promotional techniques to increase customers participation and awareness of library programs and events.
Effectively performs market research and applies analytical methods and techniques to determine appropriate recommendations for new program initiatives.
Represents the library at newcomer's briefings, commander's calls, spouse orientations, etc. Briefs and updates base personnel about availability of library services and programs; incumbent is also responsible for attending/representing the library at other related installation program functions, when needed.
Regularly meets with the Marketing Department to ensure marketing and publicity materials for library programs are appropriate and ready for dissemination among targeted audience. In conjunction with marketing, promotes and coordinates library events and programs to meet Program requirements.
Selects and evaluates office materials needed for program development and support. Performs periodic inventory of supplies needed for library events and programs.
Creates, maintains, and provides to supervisor a list of supplies needed to accomplish all library events and programs. Conducts and performs library tours and orientations as needed.
Submits marketing and publicity materials to the Marketing department for execution, distribution, and advertisement; incumbent ensures to meet marketing/sponsorship requirements and deadlines.
Provides reference services to library customers as well as circulation services, when needed.
Refers difficult reference/circulation questions to the circulation services and/or technical services technician, as well as, senior technician or librarian, if needed. Assists library users with library equipment and program needs.
Performs routine clerical tasks. Uses a variety of word processing software and materials to prepare, format, modify, edit, and print letters, reports, memos, and other documents.
Receives and transmits electronic mail and attachments. Refers difficult questions/problems concerning work processes.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and one every three years thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have responsible experience which has demonstrated the ability to manage a library outreach program. Must have specific knowledge of library rules, policies, and procedures for circulation and technical service, and/or prior experience in program development.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
