Duties

WHO IS THE OFFICE OF CHIEF COUNSEL, FINANCE & MANAGEMENT (HUMAN RESOURCES DIVISION)? The Associate Chief Counsel (Finance & Management) supports the administrative, financial, and managerial programs of the Office of Chief Counsel and provides advice to the Chief Counsel and Deputy Chief Counsel on all management matters for the organization nationwide. The Human Resources Division is within the ACC (F&M) and is committed to excellent customer service and to fairly and equitably identify and employ innovative recruitment, retention, and professional development programs and services in the areas of staffing, classification, payroll, and benefits. As a Human Resources Assistant (Office Automation), you will: Respond to customer inquiries on such matters as procedures for filing applications, status of recruitment announcements, kinds of vacancies in the organization serviced and hiring procedures and announcements; Transmit, receive and/or acknowledge electronic mail, messages, forms and reports; ensures proper handling and clearance, if required; and prints hard copies or routes to other terminals; Use personnel computer, word processing and/or other office automation equipment and various software programs to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve and print a variety of documents; produce correspondence, memoranda, directives, forms reports; create or maintain spreadsheets or databases, etc.; Assist in recruitment activities by verifying qualifications, verifying veterans' preference, making job offers, coordinating EOD/release dates and processing pre-appointment security checks; and Compute or assist employee/supervisors in completing paperwork associated with employee benefits. This is not an all-inclusive list. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education Substitution: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. For GS-06: Specialized Experience: Your resume must detail at least one year of specialized experience which includes: Providing information to managers and employees on various human resources issues (e.g., employee benefits, staffing, recruitment, position classification, etc.); and 2) Utilizing office automation and various program applications in order to research information and resolve HR issues; and 3) Maintaining files and/or employee records, position descriptions, or other HR items; and 4) Utilizing personnel and/or payroll systems to affect a variety of personnel and/or pay action. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). GS-07: Specialized Experience: Your resume must detail at least one year of specialized experience which includes: Providing information to managers and employees on various human resources issues (e.g., employee benefits, staffing, recruitment, position classification, etc.); and 2) Utilizing office automation and various program applications in order to research information and resolve HR issues; and 3) Maintaining files and/or employee records, position descriptions, or other HR items; and 4) Utilizing personnel and/or payroll systems to affect a variety of personnel and/or pay actions; and 5) Using a personal computer, terminal, and office software programs to enter data, complete forms, and correct errors and omissions in HR files/documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). NOTE: If qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application package. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Time in Grade Requirement for GS-06: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). Time in Grade Requirement for GS-07: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
