The position serves as Program Assistant for Women's Health (WH) Program and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and performing a wide range of daily critical administrative, program, and technical functions to support quality gender-specific services for women veterans within the VA Central California Health Care System.
Duties
Major duties include:
Ensures administrative coordination processes are in place to maintain and expand current and support implementation of new gender specific health care needs of women veterans.
Assists the WVPM with critical administrative and clerical duties such as reviews incoming message traffic and documents such as gender health care correspondence, progress notes, pathology reports, operation and procedure reports from both internal and external sources, sort's incoming publications and directives and applies knowledge of service and functions in distributing and routing gender-specific reports.
Will assist the WVPM in ensuring that all staff receives New Employee Orientation including new employees, residents, students, and volunteers. Performs other duties of related to office management as directed by the Associate Chief of Staff Clinics Ambulatory and Primary Care.
Maintains evidence-based tracking data registries to ensure all service goals and objectives are being accomplished and performance measures are being met.
Responsible for planning, organizing coordinating implementing directing, integrating and evaluating gender data collection and evaluation mechanisms related to performance improvement initiatives for women's health throughout the healthcare system
Determines action needed by clinical staff with action tracking to ensure timely completion and resolution and refers significant problems for resolution.
Coordinates administrative policies to assist staff with understanding and following care processes, regulations, service polices and be present at local Women Veteran outreach events.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/17/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience where you were responsible for providing administrative support functions within a healthcare facility; performing automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information; conducts qualitative and quantitative program evaluations for effectiveness; and researching reference materials, regulations, and standards to identify appropriate action necessary to correct problems or issues. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week..

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary Typically the employee may sit comfortably to do the work However, there may become walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, or small parts. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Work is typically performed in office, conference room and clinical/hospital patient care settings Typically, the work is hazard-free, not requiring any special equipment of clothing.
