The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex. This position is located in Facilities Management (FM), Office of Facilities Management and Reliability (OFMR), Mail Services Branch. The purpose of this position is to manage concerns, activities, and functions necessary to ensure that the written word is moved from one point to another in a manner that meets the policies, goals and objectives.

Duties
The Supervisory Mail Clerk has immediate oversight of the Mail Services Branch (MSB) day-to-day operations.

Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-8 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as: Experience Overseeing the mailing (domestic and foreign) of documents in letter-size envelopes and flats, registered or certified and special delivery mail, packages that often require special handling, bulky items, etc.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week.Education is generally not applicable to substitution for the 1 year of specialized experience required at the next lower grade level. However, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
