The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties in support of financial management and budgetary functions.
Duties
Receives and reviews budgetary information: establishes controls; monitors execution; compiles and summarizes information; enters data on appropriate forms and records; and completes related assignments to accomplish budget assistant tasks.
Performs special recurring assignments and projects. Holds GPC card, alternate for customer service representative, point of contact for time and attendance.
Accomplishes work in support of cost analysis functions.
Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents that offer required complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, editing and reformatting electronic drafts, and updating or revising existing databases or spreadsheets.
Complies with health and safety directives.
Works to achieve and support quality improvements in all products and services.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Program. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes budgetary transactions involving two or more appropriations with different guidelines or a comparable mix of appropriated funds and/or revolving fund accounts to process and extract budgetary data from a variety of forms, documents, and reports; Overseeing budget activities of an office including tracking funds distribution, reconciling commitments/obligations, and reallocating organizational funds; and Extracting, recording and balancing basic information from financial management systems.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of budget procedures, forms, documents, reports, and related requirements to review, compile, and organize budget information.
Knowledge of the Air Force Reserve mission, functions, programs, and administrative activities to relate estimates to established budget categories.
Knowledge of and skill in the analysis and comparison of selected line-item obligations and expenditures in the approved operating budget to determine weather funds are being used on a timely basis and in accordance with financial plan.
Knowledge of Air Force and Air Force Reserve directives governing budgetary functions and methods and procedures applicable to budget formulation and execution.
Knowledge of established methods and procedures for compiling and evaluating cost data.
Skill in operating a remote terminal and utilizing a variety of software and hardware. Skill in typing: a qualified typist is required.
Knowledge of total quality management methodology, tools, and techniques. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
