About the Position: You will perform a wide range of specialized administrative work for a diverse, technically complex and geographically dispersed organization. Based on knowledge of the organization and the services it provides, addresses needs/issues associated with a wide variety of non-routine personnel, procurement, and budget work. Position located in Donelson, TN.

Duties

Oversee the handling, typing, distribution, and filing of communications and reports. Serve as timekeeper for assigned personnel and inputs time and attendance records into an automated system. Serve as point of contact for all pay and personnel management activities. Prepare and processes training requests, tracks completed training, and maintains accurate training records. Maintain personnel data on a wide range of employees. Generate regular and recurring administrative reports such as travel, training, leave, overtime, and equipment usage reports. Prepare travel estimates and orders, and processes travel vouchers for assigned personnel. Coordinate actions or provides guidance on problems affecting personnel/pay matters for assigned personnel.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • May be selected at any grade level with non-competitive promotion potential to target grade. Non-competitive promotion potential to the target grade based on time-in-grade requirements and demonstrated ability to perform the higher graded duties.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. To qualify at the GS-06 Level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes procedural and administrative work in an office environment such as preparing correspondence; maintaining files and records; making travel arrangements; maintaining inventory records for hand receipt accounts on property; gathering budgetary data; prepare and monitor labor and fund requests; use automated personnel and timekeeping databases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business, Business Administration, or Business Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. To qualify at the GS-07 Level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes procedural and administrative work in an office environment such as utilizing personal computers, an automated personnel database to initiate personnel actions; using a financial management system to complete duties as timekeeper and complete weekly labor reports; making travel arrangements to include preparing orders and vouchers; coordinating training requirements such as preparing, processing, tracking and maintaining all training activities; assist in preparation and analysis of operating budget. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business, Business Administration, or Business Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
