This position is located at the Armed Forces Retirement Home - Washington (AFRH-W), Security Division, which is located within the Office of the Administrator. The Security Division is responsible for maintaining physical security and emergency management within the AFRH-W campus. The incumbent will serve as administrative support within the Security Division.
Duties
As a Security Assistant, you will:
Be the first point of contact at the security desk, as well as at the USAccess credential desk.
Tasked with answering the telephone and emails that would need a quick response from the Administrative Office, Security Division, Healthcare Units, Campus Operations or Senior Agency staff of AFRH-W.
Register and install a series of signal cards throughout the grounds of AFRH, which AFRH Security employees will use during their patrol duties.
Provide identification cards and vehicle passes to Resident's Employees, Contractors, Volunteers and Visitors.
Be responsible for conducting criminal and civil background checks by accessing an approved online criminal and civil records system.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-07, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility at the GS-06 level in the Federal service or equivalent, which have equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes experience performing specialized clerical or administrative support duties in a defined functional or program area; developing information, identifying interrelationships, and taking action consistent with objectives of the program and customer needs.
Examples of such experience could include:
- Experience applying a standardized body of rules and procedures sufficient to perform a wide range of administrative support duties, using an automated system OR
- Experience preparing reports, financial or data collection, for the Security Division, Business Center and Administrative Office OR
- Experience providing written and/or oral technical and problem-solving support to customers and staff, including other branches or divisions OR
- Experience identifying deficiencies, interpreting resources such as laws, regulations and policies and applying the appropriate guidelines to resolve issues.
