This position is located within the Patient Administration Department of the Captain James A Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago IL. The position serves as a coordinator, advisor, analyst, and planner for the delivery of health care services within Medical Service.
Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Manages the implementation and coordination of processes within Medical Service related to their efficient operation
Interprets data for various statistical accreditation reports
Ensures that patient care data is collected correctly and timely
Reviews health informatics processes to determine relevancy and currency of these functions
Educates staff members on using the databases
Designs specialized queries to sort and filter data according to user needs
Performs database administration and implements decision support services
Develops customized input screens to facilitate accurate and efficient data entry
Performs data extractions from mainframe databases
Analyzes data related to workload and quality of patient care
Determines the feasibility of using new technology and techniques to perform and/or improve specific functions of the Healthcare System
Creates complex macros to perform sets of actions which automates common tasks;
Performs other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 08:00am to 04:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet one of the following criteria:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9) in Federal Service that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of a Management Analyst, GS-11. Specialized experience includes includes utilizing database management systems and software to control the organization, storage, retrieval, security, and integrity of data; designing specialized queries to sort and filter data according to user needs; extracting data; and educating appropriate staff member on using the databases.
Evaluating and making recommendations on operating programs. NOTE: Your experience must be fully documented in your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.

EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree that is related to this position OR LL.M., if related. NOTE: Your education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one year of full-time study; if that number cannot be obtained from the transcript, 18 semester hours will be considered as one full academic year of graduate study. A copy of your transcript is required at the time of application.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. There is some walking and carrying of light items. Work is performed in an office setting.
