The incumbent serves as Clinical Applications Coordinator (CAC) providing support of multi-service software applications for the Sisseton Service Unit. The software supports the Electronic Health Record (EHR), Patient Care Component (PCC), Text-Integration Utility (TIU), Health Summary and View Patient Record (VPR). The duties involve support for these packages and training individuals in the operation and integration of the packages. Incumbent works under the direction of the Quality Director.
Duties
Responsible for the implementation, training, and support of multi-service software package that automate the capture of clinical encounter information and its subsequent retrieval
Works with various departments and their staff in refining and evaluation of existing health-related software modules and programs.
Coordinates with Information Technology staff and other application coordinators to implement integrated packages, resolve conflicts, provide secondary support on related software modules, and ensure smooth operations in areas where package scope overlaps or is integrated with other services functions
Implements and maintains the Electronic Health Record and provides training clinical staff in the entire range of application packaqes
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
GS 9: 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree; 1 year equivalent to at least GS-7
GS 11: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; 1 year equivalent to at least GS-9
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS 9: One year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and
responsibility to the next lower grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position: With little or no supervision train, support and implant multi-service software package that
automate the capture of clinical encounter information and its subsequent retrieval.
establish interpersonal relationships with all levels of health care professionals and other health care staff; promote awareness of the importance of data validity, data security and comply with all relevant Privacy Act, HIPPA regulations, and computer related
policies and procedures; emphasize accuracy, security and the importance of usage of clinical software applications; work with clinical applications coordinator, various departments and staff in refining and evaluation of existing health related software
modules and programs.
GS 11: One year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and
responsibility to the next lower grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Works with programmers in local testing of software, identifying software problems and requesting enhancements; Coordinates with Information Technology staff and other application coordinators to implement integrated packages, resolve conflicts, provide secondary support on related software modules, and ensure smooth operations; identifying software problems and requesting enhancements; coordinates implementation of new software products

Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
