Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will be placed in a pay status and can expect to work a maximum of 25 out of 26 pay periods per year. This can be variable due to project requirements or weather conditions.

Duties
Tonto National Monument was established to preserve, protect, and interpret prehistoric cliff dwellings, other archaeological sites, and the natural resources of the Upper Sonoran ecosystem. The Monument is 1,120 acres of desert environment that is comprised of diverse plants and animals including many species of cacti, snakes, bees, scorpions, lizards, and tarantulas. The Monument ranges in elevation from 2300' to 4000' and temperatures in this high desert location may range from 30 to 115 degrees Fahrenheit. The Monument is near Roosevelt, Arizona, 125 miles east of Phoenix and 30 miles NW of Globe on Highway 88/188. Services near the Monument are very limited. Nearby Roosevelt Lake and Tonto National Forest offer many recreational opportunities.
The selected candidate will be expected to:
Perform simple and routine maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, equipment, and related utilities.
Perform minor carpentry repairs using simple measures and hand tools on such tasks as replacing broken planks on picnic tables; broken windows using precut stock; minor adjustments or replaces hinges, latches, and catches.
Perform minor painting, such as staining picnic tables, using brush and roller according to specific instructions.
Perform minor plumbing repairs such as tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures according to established procedures.
Perform routine maintenance on trails using hand tools to re-grade and reset barriers to restore areas to original appearances.
Collect trash, clean and services restrooms and other visitor facilities.
Operates light trucks to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites while assisting on project work.
Assist higher graded maintenance workers or tradesmen in the performance of their work.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc.

Education
There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.
