You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the SELF DEFENSE SYSTEMS DIVISION, SYSTEMS INTEGRATION DEPARTMENT of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (based on geographic location). Bath, ME: $151,870; Pascagoula, MS: $134,435; Picatinny, NJ: $157,934; Norfolk, VA: $136,323.

Duties

You will serve as a New Construction and Decommissioning Lead. You will provide in-service engineering support and representation of the Self-Defense Systems Fleet Support Branch. You will direct, coordinate, track, and oversee the installation, removal, and testing of weapon systems. You will perform Light Off and Check Out on newly installed systems. You will provide a full range of Close-In Weapon Systems (CIWS) technical, mechanical, operational, and training support. You will provide support for multiple combat system interfaces.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Travel requirement is 60% or less.
  • You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band NT-4 (GS-11/12 equivalent) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing and applying technical engineering methods and procedures to assess Close-In Weapon Systems (CIWS) performance and providing technical recommendations for planning and execution of naval terminal defense systems installation, testing, or trials.
