The selectee for this position will serve as a RIGGER (MARITIME) in the HULL DIVISION, SMALL CRAFT REPAIR FACILITY IN WATERFRONT READINESS of NAVAL ACADEMY.

Duties

YOU WILL INSTALL RIGGING ON SAILCRAFT SUCH AS SPREADERS, TANGS, SHROUDS, AND VARIOUS FITTINGS. YOU WILL INSTALL RUNNING RIGGING INCLUDING MAIN AND JOB HALYARDS, SHEETS, GUYS, SHACKLES, SNATCH BLOCKS, GUY BLOCKS, SHEAVES, TRAVELER SETUPS, VANGS, JIB CARS, POLE CARS AND SHROUD ROLLERS. YOU WILL REPAIR WINCHES, WINCH HANDLES, SNAP SHACKLES, SNATCH BLOCKS, VANGS, EXIT BOXES, GENOA BOXES, SPINNAKER POLE ENDS AND POLE TRAKCS.

  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary/trial period.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.
  • A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Adhere to rigger trade safety practices and guidelines in completing assignments; 2) Checking rigging supports before beginning the work to replace those which are badly worn or damaged; and 3) Select correct tools to repair rigging equipment.
