The primary purpose is to support the development and acquisition, test and evaluate state-of-the-art weapons and cyberspace capabilities and provide support to all tenant units, operate and maintain the Test and Training Complex by providing range instrumentation, infrastructure, facilities, and technical expertise to support fielding capabilities for the warfighter.
Duties
Designs, fabricates, installs, checks and maintains specialized instrumentation systems to measure and record test parameters in a variety of environmental, field, or laboratory conditions.
Act as team leader with overall responsibility for planning, conducting, analyzing results, preparing test/technical reports and physical security of equipment, electronic systems, devices, and techniques in support of airborne electronic warfare and weapons development programs.
Closely reviews the Daily Mission Support Schedule and provides technical direction to ensure that requested instrumentation configurations are compatible with assigned aircraft and have been properly defined in the preflight work orders.
Personally, performs and leads supporting technicians in the proper pre- and/or post-mission installation, calibration, and functional status checks of uniquely mounted airborne instrumentation systems in a variety of aircraft, weapon systems, aerial targets, and drones.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NJ-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-08 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is possessing the ability to design, fabricate, install, check and maintain specialized instrumentation systems to measure and record test parameters in a variety of environmental, field, or laboratory conditions while assisting in design, development and fabrication of instrumentation systems utilizing such typical subsystems as pulse code modulation telemetry, high speed video, airborne radar sensors, precision navigation sensors and solid-state recorders; also designs, develops, and fabricates instrumentation systems which provide valid data and are compatible with data reduction facilities providing mission and installation support for test program instrumentation requirements and evaluates installed instrumentation equipment capability against test objectives and environmental conditions to determine if equipment meets required specifications for scheduled test missions.
NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Ability to design, fabricate, install and maintain specialized instrumentation systems which measure and record test parameters in a variety of environmental, field, or laboratory conditions.
2. A thorough knowledge of electronic principles and practices, operating parameters, capabilities, and limitations of electronic systems and components associated with airborne and ground instrumentation systems.
3. Knowledge of basic electronic concepts and ability to convert theoretical ideas to functional components and systems.
4. Skill in the interpretation of technical data such as drawings, schematics, blueprints,
and specifications of complete electronic systems.
5. Ability to use electronic test equipment.
6. Ability to perform calibration and troubleshooting for installed instrumentation systems, including video recording, digital data recording, weapon function monitoring, and other data collection systems.
7. Ability to provide technical leadership to other technicians and support personnel.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
