You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NUCLEAR) in the WATERFRONT OPERATIONS SUPPORT DIVISION of SUPSHIP.
Duties
You will develop the documents for the receipt, movement, storage, and shipment for both irradiated and non-irradiated reactor cores.
You will perform duties associated with the safeguarding of Special Nuclear Material (SNM).
You will perform audits and surveillances of nuclear procedural violations, equipment performance problems and other weaknesses.
You will perform deckplate and shop inspections of Special Nuclear Material (SNM) handling and security areas for both submarines and aircraft carriers and recommend required corrective actions.
You will interface with refueling operations and engineering members to obtain status of on-going waterfront fueling/refueling/defueling operations.
You will develop Memorandum of Agreements and Concept of Operations for government security forces used in the security of Special Nuclear Materials (SNM).
You will evaluate and audit Special Nuclear Material (SNM) processes and procedures and Nuclear Propulsion Plant technical data, procedures, drawings, etc. to ensure compliance with government and command regulations.
Requirements

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current radiological worker certification per NAVSEA 389-0288, Article 106.5a.
Qualifications
GS-11
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-10 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector developing and implementing technical engineering processes and procedures to evaluate compliance in a nuclear training program to identify operational deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions.
GS-10
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-09 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing and interpreting technical engineering procedures to evaluate compliance in a training program to identify operational deficiencies, and recommend corrective action.
