You will serve as a SECURITY ASSISTANT (OA) in the Provost Marshal/Marine Corps Police Department of MCAS BEAUFORT SC.

Duties

You will assist the Command Security Manager with overall implementation of Visitor Control. You will perform background investigations on personnel. You will provide administrative security support to command personnel. You will maintain historical and statistical data for overall background investigations.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Inability to obtain and maintain the required clearance level may be a cause for removal from the position.
  • This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing background investigation and background checks by querying various DoD (DISS and NBIS) and Law Enforcement databases (National Criminal Information Center. OPEN Fox, CLEOC). Utilizing position sensitivity as it relates to security clearance eligibility. Utilizing Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) handling (DoDI 5200.48). Applying administrative and data entry processes of various DoD, DoN, USMC and other applicable computer related programs required to execute the command security programs and installation access. Communicating orally to command personnel and government contractors regarding security policies and procedures. Utilizing Microsoft Office and other applicable PC related programs. Utilizing security programs to include information, personnel, and industrial security to effectively implement and administer applicable security policies and procedures and/or coordinate with other specialized security programs. Reading and interpreting DoD, DoN and local security directives with the ability to apply those instructions.
