This position is located in the Property and Supply department at the Sisseton Service Unit. The
incumbent is responsible for performing technical supply support work necessary to ensure the effective
operation of ongoing supply activities of the Property and Supply Department.
Duties
Maintains stock at or within prescribed levels and establishes or adjusts stock levels and recorder points to assure adequate stock of supplies and materials are available when needed in the property quantity, and of the proper quality.
Upon receipt, checks items against packing slips, purchase orders, or credit card orders; prepares discrepancy reports, receiving reports, and/or other supply transaction reports as necessary; contacts vendors for credits and/or adjustments; and makes necessary adjustments to stock levels
Initiates, prepares, edits, and processes requisitions for stock replenishment. Obtains technical information from various supply catalogs, manufacturer catalogs, from personal contacts with supply management staff, suppliers, and other sources to introduce new items into the supply system. Works with the supervisor in the assignment of index numbers, providing for the proper identification of items, accuracy of National Stock Numbers, and other miscellaneous inquiries concerning unit of issue, unit of measure, management data, and similar information. Research catalogs, records, or other data sources to obtain or correct stock numbers or to find authorized substitutes for various stock items.
Operates personal computers to perform record research, data input, and data corrections/additions/deletions to maintain an accurate supply management system. Provides necessary supply reports. Provides training to new staff on the supply management system. Assures the rapid handling of incoming stock, stock turnover and for stock rotation
Prepares all outgoing mail as alternate Mail Clerk for the service unit and picks up mail from Post Office Box, daily. Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
For GS-5: one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position: maintaining inventory by preparing/processing reports and supplies through an automated system
(only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. 2 years general experience or 4 years above high school)
For GS-6: one year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position: using an electronic inventory system for ordering and receiving supplies; reviewing orders by conducting research to find records for supply transactions.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
