Medical Advisors serve as NGA's subject matter experts and points of contact related to occupational health and medicine, to include workplace wellness and preventive medicine. They develop medical policy and protocol, evaluate and respond to Agency health needs, manage issues related to medical personnel and operations, and coordinate and oversee the delivery of medical services across NGA's majo

Duties

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Physician for Health Services is tasked to provide medical and health services to the NGA workforce and represent NGA at various public and private sector forums. This is an inherently governmental position that provides advice and consultation concerning workforce health protection, health support policies and planning, and develops guidance for health and medical issues impacting the workforce or NGA operations worldwide. As the professional medical expert in the field of health programs, the incumbent provides strategic direction, and oversight of health services. The incumbent plans, develops, implements, administers, and maintains these programs for the respective NGA East and West clinic, but in coordination to foster synchronization. NGA Clinics provide emergency medical services, occupational medical examinations and medical surveillance programs, consultation for workplace injuries and illnesses, health promotion and wellness programs, DoD installation emergency management program support, preventive medicine, fitness for duty examinations and their medical reviews, oversee behavioral psychologist and mental health program, immunizations, health fairs, and other preventative occupational health programs such as Bloodborne Pathogens, etc. Duties include:* Represent NGA health services interest at federal and non-federal agencies working groups regarding topics impacting the NGA workforce.* Represent NGA on all medical matters associated with emerging health issues, i.e., COVID-19, AHI, etc., that require a definitive authority to establish Agency wide policy and guidance with respect to medical standards, evaluation protocols, and analysis of results. * Develop an integrated medical services program that will proactively address occupational health and safety needs, engage in ongoing quality assurance audits, and ensure parity in programming and protocol across NGA locations.* Liaise with Federal, State, or local officials responsible for public health and safety during public health emergencies or as required to protect NGA employees and the general public.* Triage all reported injuries and illnesses for determination of industrial vs non-industrial causation and "first-aid" vs non-first-aid" categorization.*Provide medical consultation for Reasonable Accommodation, exceptional Family Member Programs, and Humanitarian Reassignments. * Evaluate personnel for suitability and exposure to potential occupational and operational mission hazards.* Actively participate in the Infection Prevention and Control and Safety activities of the medical clinics, providing employee health/occupational medicine expertise in decision making.* Develop and sustain currency for standardized procedures for treatment protocols for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants as required in accordance with DoD and DHA standards.* Review policies supporting NGA deployed workforce, police officer candidates and employees requiring occupational health services.* Develop, monitor and evaluate the clinic staff abilities and performance of health services to effect improvements in treatment and support in accordance with DoD and DHA standards.* Advise senior leaders to promote workplace and employee health and safety.Additional Application Requirement: You may be asked to complete one or more assessments in addition to the application you submit on this website as part of your application to NGA. Qualifications

MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). Demonstrated experience providing oversight of a medical clinic or facility.2. Demonstrated experience briefing medical topics to audiences of various technical understanding.3. Demonstrated experience identifying medical conditions that could affect fitness for duty in the Continental United States and abroad.EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical College; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting (i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training). -AND- The 1 year of supervised experience may be waived for research or administrative positions not requiring direct patient care. -AND- LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: 1. Demonstrated experience developing organization-wide medical policies, programs, or protocols.2. Position may be eligible for additional Market Pay in accordance with the DoD Civilian Physicians and Dentists Pay Plan.3. Demonstrated experience applying American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) protocols and American Medical Association (AMA) guidelines for the treatment of work-related injuries.4. Demonstrated experience expressing facts or ideas in a succinct and organized manner, through technical writing or verbal communications. 5. Demonstrated experience executing Combatant Command (COCOM) and U.S. State Department rules, regulations and procedures concerning medical examinations necessary for the clearance of overseas assignments.
