Duties
Functioning independently to develop new scientific initiatives led by NINR and ideas for other initiatives in which NINR participates or is involved.
Advising the NINR Director and Deputy Director on the status of emerging directions of research.
Conducting background research to inform NINR’s scientific priorities and initiatives.
Leading and overseeing the preparation of briefing and other materials for the NINR Director and Deputy Director.
Conducting background research to inform NINR’s scientific priorities and initiatives.
Building, independently and with staff throughout NINR, collaborative relationships related to NINR’s scientific priorities across NIH, with other federal agencies, and with external groups.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

Qualifications
Requirements for Applicants at the GS-15 Grade Level:
To meet the basic requirements of the position, you must possess a bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences, or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
In addition to the education requirements:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: providing strategic scientific advice to senior officials on research programs and policies and emerging directions of research; developing new scientific initiatives to strategically advance nursing science; building relationships with scientific partners and professional societies; and developing reports, briefings, and other written materials to communicate information on scientific programs, activities, and policies.
