About the Position: Serves as the Operational Security (OPSEC) Program Manager and Coordinator in the Protection Directorate, United States Army North (USANORTH).
Position may be filled as a TERM appointment NTE 3 years, if the candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. TERM appointments may be extended up to a maximum of six years. This position CANNOT be made permanent without further competition.
Duties
Ensure Operations Security is fully incorporated into ARNORTH Headquarters and subordinate units and daily activities and operations.
Review and evaluate collected intelligence products for threat potential in preparing reports for the command.
Develop recommendations for corrective actions or measures.
Develop Command Operation Security (OPSEC) Plans and prepare annual Command OPSEC report for approval and submission to Headquarters.
Requirements
- Pre-deployment physical required.
- Pre-employment and random thereafter drug testing required.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Top Secret/SCI security clearance required.
- 25% TDY required.
- This position has been designated as Emergency and Mission Essential.
- One-year term trial period required.
- This position is not to exceed three years, may be extended up to six years, CANNOT be made permanent without further competition.

Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Monitoring and implementing the Operational Security Training Program; 2) Maintaining official Operational Security files and records; 3) Executing corrections and improvements to the existing program as needed; AND 4) Representing the command at all senior level meetings, conferences, and working groups related to OPSEC. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--No substitution of education for experience is permitted.
