Duties
Serves as the Center Safety Officer for Construction/Contractor Safety.
Reviews projects against Army standards and other applicable codes; provides technical expertise.
Establish procedures for the reporting of all accidents, maintains accident records and evaluates accident data to detect trends.
Responsible for managing and directing the Center-wide Public Safety Programs.
Implement corrective actions and consults with subject matter specialists and managers about changes in work processes and proposed methods to eliminate unnecessary risks and control hazardous conditions
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing safety and occupational health services, including accident prevention, occupational health and safety in all end use items or services; conducting surveys of operations and facilities; investigating and analyzing mishaps; reviewing design plans and specifications for safety factors and providing training, advice and assistance on safety and occupational health, experience in technical safety evaluations of safety submissions; reading and interpreting plans, blueprints, drawings, site plans, and specifications for new construction and major modifications for various projects and conducting safety and health audits for facilities and personnel."

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
