This position is located at the Great Plains Area Drug Dependency Unit, Omaha Winnebago Service Unit in Winnebago, NE. This position is being announced concurrently under the Delegated Examining procedures.

Duties
Program Responsibilities - Coordinates and supervises the implementation of the residential component of the treatment program Including: residential procedures, individual residential treatment plans, point and level system, life skills program and all aspects of day-to-day supervision and care of the residents.
Residential Advisor Responsibilities - Assures resident attendance at scheduled appointments and programs. Implements scheduled programs and activities (such as outings and like skill programs). Assists clinical and program staff with therapeutic programs, such as education and chemical dependency.
Supervisor Responsibilities - Assigns, schedules, directs and supervises, through work activities, up to ten social services aids/assistants
Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above)
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
Group leader in community or residential recreation or training programs.
Counselor in a youth summer camp.
Instructor in a training program for the development of job skills.
Work that demonstrated the ability to be responsible for and to lead and train members of a job crew.
Group activities leader in the Armed Services.
Unit leader-monitor-proctor for a dormitory group in a boarding school or other residential facility.
Aid or assistant to professional or specialist staff in such fields as personnel (private or government), employment guidance in a vocational or academic institution, social service, or manpower development.
Aid or assistant to professional or associate staff engaged in work of a social services nature in private, public welfare, government program, or community organizations, or in voluntary activities.
Aid or assistant to professional or specialist staff working with individuals who are addicted to or abuse alcohol and/or drugs.

Education and Training
For GS-4: Successful completion of 2 years of study that (a) included at least 12 semester hours of subjects directly related to the work of the position, or (b) was supplemented by experience in activities that afforded the opportunity to acquire and demonstrate the skills required by the position. (The supplementary experience may have been gained, for example, in part-time or summer employment, in volunteer social welfare or recreation programs, or in community organizations.)
For GS-5: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree that (a) included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of subjects directly related to the work of the position; (b) included a major in social behavior, human behavior, or health care or; (c) was supplemented by specialized experience as described above for GS-4.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-7: 1 year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples Include: planning and carrying out the successive steps and handling behavioral problems in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training, or accepted practices within the interdisciplinary health care team; interact with psychologists, nurses, social workers, community resources, residents and/or their families; facilitate group activities; recognize and respond appropriately to deviations from normal behavior; provide non-professional counseling services, including behavioral issues associated with substance use and mental health disorders in adolescents.

I have completed 1 year (18 semester hours) of graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position.
OR
I have a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-07 grade level.
