You will serve as an EXHIBITS SPECIALIST in the AIRCRAFT RESTORATION AND MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT of NATIONAL NAVAL AVIATION MUSEUM.
Duties
You will conduct conservation, preservation, maintenance, and restoration efforts for aeronautical exhibits.
You will collaborate with experts to provide recommendations for planning and executing exhibits.
You will prepare and maintain complex aircraft exhibits to include support components and assemblies.
You will prepare macro artifacts or movement or storage by applying appropriate preservation techniques.
You will utilize computer software to prepare reports on project status and estimation of timelines.
Requirements

Qualifications
GS-09 Level:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience performing work equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as the following: 1.) Applying technical methods, drawings, blueprints and other data to support the authentication of aircraft artifacts for restorations and preservation efforts; 2.) Operating equipment and associated methods, techniques and materials to repair and/or reproduce major, vintage aircraft assemblies and sub-assembly components; 3.) Collaborating with subject matter experts and designers to establish prerequisites for repair or fabrication of vintage aircraft components and assemblies.
GS-07 Level:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience performing work equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as the following: 1.) Assisting in aircraft restoration and preservation projects in accordance with technical directions and plans; 2.) Constructing unique exhibit assemblies and specimens with for public display; 3.) Applying appropriate preservation methods to ensure aircraft artifacts are protected from damage.

Education Substitution for Experience at the GS-09 Level:
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree in a major study such as illustrative design, commercial art, fine arts, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, or other fields related to the position;
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree in a major study such as illustrative design, commercial art, fine arts, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, or other fields related to the position
OR

OR
A combination of experience and graduate education related to the position to be filled as described above that equates to one year of experience

OR
A combination of education in a related field and experience as described above that equates to one year of experience
