You will serve as a Logistics Management Specialist in the Fleet Readiness Center South East of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.

Duties

You will initiate cost-effective alternative policies and programs that impact overall logistics management support goals. You will resolve integrated logistical support (ILS) problems by developing new approaches and procedures. You will determine logistics support resources for maintenance planning, technical data, training, facilities, computer resources, or packaging requirements. You will analyze logistics procedures to support and sustain aircraft systems products. You will analyze data to improve execution of integrated logistics support and readiness.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current DoD Security Cooperation Workforce certification.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: 1) Developing transportation plans for unique foreign customer's aviation and weapon systems; 2) Pricing, planning and coordaining Special Airlift Assignment Missions (SAAM) flights; coordinating with Air Force Base (AFB) personnel and with load masters to assure all required documentation is complete and flights are scheduled according to the timeline provided by the Customer, and pallets are loaded/offloaded appropriately; 3) Concluding action on assigned systems or functions using advanced concepts, principles, and practices of all aspects of the broad field of logistics management; 4) Approving PHS&T plans using broad maintenance knowledge of systems and subsystems disciplines related to aeronautics, mechanics, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, aerodynamics, propellants and explosives; 5) Supporting DON and NAVAIR logistics acquisition systems by applying policies and procedures of the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program, COMNAVFORINST 4790.2; 6) Ensuring workplace safety by adhering to rules, regulations and instruction manuals pertaining to Preparing Hazardous Materials For Military Air Shipments (e.g. CFR Title 49, AFMAN 24-604, ICAO, IATA, IMDG); 7) Developing administrative relationships and coordinating with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), U.S. Transportation Command (TRANSCOM), Defense Security Service (DSS), Naval Ordnance Safety and Security Activity (NOSSA), and Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) for transportation issues.
