About the Position: This position is with the Army Reserve Aviation Command, Aviation Support Facility Carson West located at Fort Carson, Colorado.

Duties

Helicopter Flight Instructor on Utility Helicopter (UH-60 series). Instructs and evaluates rated Army instructors, evaluators, and aviators in advanced operating procedures. Trains and/or evaluates designated unit personnel in the methods, techniques and procedures of unit level flight instruction. Establishes and maintains a flight program for rated aviators assigned for training. Assist ASF supervisor in all phases of operation.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • Must possess a current first class medical certificate in accordance with FAA regulations at the time of appointment.

Experience performing staff work concerned with planning, analyzing, or administering agency aviation programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Basic Requirement for Helicopter Flight Instructor: Possession of the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates, and/or military rating, (Please include certifications in your application packet); meeting the applicable flight hour requirements; and possession of the knowledge and skills required for the position. (Flight hours MUST be in the body of the resume). Flight hour requirements: Total flight time 1500 hours; Pilot in Command 250 hours; Night flying 75 hours; Last 12 months 100 hours (for current employees up to one-half of the flight hours in the last 12 months may be waived); Instrument 75 hours; Instructor 500 hours.
