About the Position: As the Family Advocacy Program Manager (FAPM), carries out program management responsibility for the installation Family Advocacy Program (FAP), ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and meeting customer needs.

Duties

Carry out program management responsibility for a Family Advocacy Program ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and meeting customer needs. Directly supervise a staff of professional prevention-based workers to include planning and scheduling work, identifying needs for changes in work priorities and reviewing work to ensure satisfactory completion. Identify program resource requirements and provide FAP budget input to include manpower, supplies, and equipment. Coordinate social work services and provide referrals to other programs and services to include a Military Treatment Facility, Child Protective Services, chaplains, state and local social services agencies, and other military and medical personnel. Manage a child abuse/neglect and domestic violence prevention and education program. Provide psychoeducation and skills development activities such as parenting skills, stress and conflict management, support groups, developing personal responsibility and couples’ communication.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating services or making recommendations to multi-disciplinary teams involved in domestic violence or child maltreatment, planning, or reviewing work of subordinates, and providing education to patients or staff on domestic violence or child maltreatment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
