The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of secretarial, clerical, and administrative duties to support and assist the supervisor in accomplishing the work activities of the office.
Duties
Any work involving the establishment, maintenance, control, protection, and disposition of records for efficient reference service and for retrieval of information and material. Any work related to processing and routing incoming and outgoing materials.
Any work involving scheduling appointments, arranging travel, coordinating meeting arrangements, and/or scheduling conferences or any work related to receiving, scheduling, referring, and contacting members of the staff, agency, and persons outside the agency ranging from other government agencies to the general public.
Any work related to editing letters, composing letters and reports; reviewing correspondence/ documents/forms for accuracy and completeness; preparing public presentation outlines; and developing
standard or form letters and replying to inquiries.
Any work related to distributing work among clerical staff; advising clerical staff on procedures and administrative matters; studying and evaluating the effectiveness of clerical procedures; and shifting subordinate clerical personnel to meet fluctuations in workload.
Uses a variety of types of software to produce final products, to include office automation software to perform basic functions such as word processing, electronic mail, and/or _update of data in electronic files. Protects classified material.

- All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
- Employee must be able to acquire and retain a Top Secret (TS) clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access in order to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
This is a GG-06 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-06 duties for the "Technician/Administrative Support" work category are at the "Entry Developmental" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-06 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: I possess the quality level experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Quality experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience include: performing office automation support using multiple automated programs and software such as databases, spreadsheets, and graphics in support of the administrative and clerical work; knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to prepare and edit written correspondence and reports; and knowledge of substantive programs of the organization as they relate to administrative and clerical support functions.

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of an organization and its staff sufficient to independently perform such duties as: arrange staff travel, conferences and meetings; select meeting and conference attendees; schedule appointments for supervisor, and follow up with the participants of meetings on action items.
2. Knowledge of spelling, punctuation, syntax, and required formats sufficient to identify and correct discrepancies in correspondence and reports.
3. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to locate and assemble information for various reports, briefings, and conferences. Ability to coordinate the work of the office with other offices, including advising secretaries or other clerical staff in subordinate offices on new procedures or regulations, and on information to be provided for use in conferences and reports.
4. Skill of a qualified typist is required. A minimum of 40 WPM proficiency if required.
5. Knowledge of office automations systems, including several types of software. Knowledge of security practices for ensuring the safeguarding of classified information.
6. Knowledge of common clerical practices and office routines to refer visitors and callers; route correspondence by name and functional area; obtain requested material from files and keep time and attendance records.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
