About the Position: Maintains the superivosr's calendar on a personal computer. Coordinates supervisors' calendars with the Defense Language Institute calendars as needed to ensure agreement and/or deconfliction of appointments and meetings as applicable.
Duties
The duties of the developmental grade level positions are identical to those of the full performance level, however, they are performed with more specific guidance and under more-than-normal supervision. This list is not all-inclusive.
Arranges the scheduling, location, and distribution of agenda for meetings.
Notifies individuals when appointments must be rescheduled and arranges mutually convenient times for new appointments.
Serves as hand-receipt holder for the organization.
Coordinates and/or assists in the preparation of management presentations, such as preparing Powerpoint slides, flow charts, and graphs using various applications for information briefings and program files.
Types a variety of materials in rough draft or final form from written material.
Reviews outgoing correspondence for conformance with local policy and regulatory format.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To Qualify at the GS-05 Level Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes; 1.) Using a computer and computer software to create a variety of documents; 2.) Maintaining office files; 3.) Answering phone calls and receiving visitors appropriately. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.

To Qualify at the GS-06 level Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes; 1.) Performing a variety of clerical and administrative work for an office using various office automation applications; 2.) Maintaining a schedule/calendar for an organization; and 3.) Proofreading and/or editing correspondence and/or technical documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements.
To Qualify at the GS-07 level Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes; (1) Preparing a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring personal and executive correspondence, reports, and other documents from information obtained from the staff, files, and other sources; (2) Reviewing and processes incoming and outgoing correspondence, reports, and other materials; (3) Maintaining calendar, coordinating meeting arrangements, and schedules meetings conflicts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
